Recap: Nutrition for Golfers – Fuel Your Game with Chris Webb

Last night, we proved once again that great golf isn’t just about the swing—it’s about the fuel.

Our virtual event, Nutrition for Golfers – Fuel Your Game with Chris Webb, brought together golfers, athletes, and wellness-focused members for an honest, empowering conversation about how what we eat shapes how we play—and how we feel.

Hosted by AWGN Founder Jessica Eden and Ambassador Dee Mills, and featuring renowned health and nutrition coach Chris Webb, the session was packed with real-world insights, no-nonsense advice, and actionable takeaways you can start using today.

This wasn’t a lecture on restrictive diets or trendy superfoods.

It was a practical masterclass in sustainable performance nutrition—designed for real lives, busy schedules, and 18-hole realities.

What We Covered: Real Questions, Real Answers

From hole 1 to hole 18, energy and focus matter. And as Chris made clear: your nutrition either supports that—or sabotages it.

Here are some of the key topics we explored:

🔹 The #1 Nutrition Mistake Golfers Make

Even high-performers fall into this trap: skipping breakfast or eating a sugary start that leads to a mid-round crash. Chris emphasised: “If you’re crashing by the back nine, it’s not your fitness—it’s your fuel.”

🔹 Fueling the Early Morning Round

For those 7:30 a.m. tee times, Chris shared the ideal pre-round meal: balanced, digestible, and rich in complex carbs and protein—eaten 60–90 minutes before play. No more foggy starts.

🔹 Blood Sugar & Your Brain on the Course

It’s not just about energy. Unstable blood sugar impacts mood, decision-making, and even patience under pressure. Chris walked us through how to stay mentally sharp—especially when the stakes are high.

🔹 Hormones, Cravings & Recovery (Especially for Women)

A powerful conversation on how hormonal cycles affect energy, appetite, and recovery. Chris reminded us: “Women have specific needs. Nutrition plans need to be individual and should reflect that.”

🔹 Beating the 3pm Crash

Spoiler: it’s not just about caffeine. We talked smart snacking—what to eat (think: nuts, fruit, real food), and what to avoid (hello, processed bars and sugar spikes).

🔹 Hydration Beyond Water

Electrolytes matter. Chris explained how proper hydration supports both mental clarity and muscle function—especially on hot or long days.

🔹 Supplements: Helpful or Hype?

Protein shakes, bars — Chris gave us his unfiltered take: “They can be tools, but they’re not a replacement for real food.” Focus on the foundation first.

🔹 Recovery That Actually Works

After a long day of play or travel, nutrition is your recovery secret weapon. Chris shared simple post-round strategies to reduce soreness, replenish energy, and support long-term resilience.

🔹 One Change to Transform Your Game

If you could do just one thing? Prioritise protein at breakfast. It sets the tone for stable energy, better focus, and fewer cravings all day.

Hearing It From the Source: Jessica Edens’ Journey. AWGN Co-Founder opened up about her own transformation with Chris’s coaching—how shifting her nutrition didn’t just change her energy, but her confidence, recovery, and love for the game.

Why This Matters for Golfers

At AWGN, we believe performance isn’t just physical—it’s holistic. And nutrition is one of the most powerful levers you have.

You can have the best swing, the best gear, the best coach—but if you’re running on empty, you’re not playing at your best.

Last night was about empowering golfers with knowledge—not dogma, not trends, but science-backed, life-friendly strategies that actually work.

Thank You & What’s Next

A huge thank you to Chris Webb for his generosity, wisdom, and no-BS approach.

To Jessica and Dee for co-hosting with such heart and authenticity.

And to every member who showed up, asked questions, and leaned into the conversation.

Whether you’re an Executive Member, a Social Member, or just starting your fitness journey—this was a reminder: you belong here. And your game deserves this level of care.

Missed the event? Don’t worry, we have a recording - more sessions are coming.

Because at AWGN, we’re not just building better golfers.

We’re building stronger, healthier, more resilient women—on and off the course.

Stay tuned for the next event in our Performance Series.

And in the meantime:

Eat well. Play strong. Recover like a pro.
