Inspiring Young Women on International Youth Day: Allayna Engel's Extraordinary Golf Journey
Blazing a Trail for Future Female Golfers
This International Youth Day, we're celebrating the remarkable achievements of Allayna Engel, an AWGN Junior Member based in Western Australia, who has made an impressive mark on the world of golf at the young age of 12.
Allayna began her journey when she was just four years old, first joining a Golf Academy at six, and participating in her first competition at the age of seven. For Allayna, golf was more than just a sport: it was a means to spend quality time with her father and forge new friendships after moving to Australia in 2016.
Since then, Allayna's passion and unwavering dedication have driven her to become one of the most recognised junior golfers in Western Australia. Her list of accolades is both extensive and awe-inspiring, setting a shining example for other young women who aspire to succeed in the world of golf.
Over the past few years, Allayna has not only received the Junior Hardest Worker award at Royal Fremantle Golf Club for four consecutive years, but she has also been the first girl to win the GolfWA Crunch and Sip Junior Order of Merit Award two years in a row. Additionally, in September 2024, she was a finalist in the Rockingham Sports Star of the Year Award, and in October 2024, she won the prestigious Pearl Hughes Trophy at Rockingham Golf Club, potentially making her the youngest player to do so.
In November 2024, Allayna was selected to represent Western Australia in the National Schools 12/U Golf Championship, where she and her team won the National Team Championship.
But that's not all. In January 2025, Allayna scored her first hole-in-one at Rockingham Golf Club, earning her a spot on the One Hole members Board at the club.
Her talent and hard work have consistently earned her recognition in various prestigious golf programs and institutions. Most recently, in May 2025, she was selected for the GolfWA High-Performance Talent Development Program, which focuses on developing top junior golfers for future state squads.
As she continues to grow both as an individual and an athlete, Allayna remains a kind and compassionate young woman who inspires others through her genuine love for the sport. She has learned to strike a balance between academics and athletics, maintaining impressive grades as she transitions into high school. With dreams of pursuing College Divisional Golf in the US, she knows that the foundation she lays today will shape her future aspirations.
On International Youth Day, Allayna Engel's remarkable story stands as a testament to the potential and determination of young women everywhere.
She serves as a shining example of what can be achieved through hard work, perseverance, and dedication to a passion.
